💥 Mysterious ‘Booms’ Heard in Conway — Residents Speculate Causes
Loud, unexplained “booms” echoed across parts of Conway this past week, sparking confusion, concern, and a flurry of speculation on social media.
The conversation started when a resident posted on social media, asking:
“Did anyone else hear that loud boom last night around 10? It shook my windows. Any idea what it was?”
It didn’t take long for the comments to roll in. Dozens of people from various neighborhoods — including areas near Dave Ward Drive, Donaghey, and even out toward Vilonia — confirmed they’d heard the same thing.
“I thought it was an explosion,” one commenter said.
“My dogs went nuts. Thought it was fireworks but it didn’t sound like the usual kind,” another added.
🤔 Theories Abound
Without an official explanation, locals did what they do best: brainstorm. Among the top theories circulating in the comments:
- Training exercises at Camp Robinson – A frequent guess anytime loud noises shake central Arkansas.
- Sonic boom from aircraft – Though some questioned if the timing and weather conditions made that likely.
- Underground construction or blasting – Suggested by a few who live near new development zones.
- Something more… unusual – UFO jokes, minor earthquakes, and “someone testing explosives” all made their rounds in the replies — mostly in good humor.
🕵️♀️ No Official Statement (Yet)
As of publication, there has been no official word from the city or local authorities about the cause of the booms. Conway Police have not issued any public statements, and no emergency alerts were reported at the time of the noise.
Some residents called the non-emergency line but were told there were no incidents logged.
